Meaning ‘Everything about teenagers (A to Z(A Teenager Z))’, ATEEZ is an 8-member group that has already secured a domestic and international fanbase as ‘performance idols’ by showcasing high-level skills through performance videos prior to their debut. Furthermore, through the Mnet reality show , which captured their debut story, they raised expectations for their debut by showing their growth in skills, including creating choreography and participating in song production. Having spent their final preparation period communicating with fans through a mini fan meeting last September, attention is now focused on the debut news of ATEEZ.
[All To Zero]
‘A new starting point for everyone’
What lies at the end of that land where no one has gone? We move forward, blindly leaving one footprint after another toward a place where no path exists. Before we know it, we are standing at a new starting point before a vast ocean. Whether the direction is correct or not is not important. We simply intend to begin a long journey, following the map of our hearts, in the direction our hearts beat. In search of the ‘Treasure’ that each of us holds in our hearts. [TREASURE EP.1 : All To Zero], which opens the prologue of the TREASURE series, depicts ATEEZ standing at the starting point of a long journey to move toward a larger world. All tracks are composed of a single theme, making ATEEZ's unique color more distinct, and they draw attention by featuring double title tracks, which is unusual for a rookie group.
[Will you be my friend?]
The first title track, ‘Pirate King,’ is a song that serves as a signal flare announcing ATEEZ's voyage; it is a trap-style song with an impressive hook reminiscent of a sea shanty. The heart-pounding beat, stimulating synth sounds, and grand brass leave a powerful impression, as if announcing the appearance of the Pirate King. Just as you feel the charm of the relentless intensity, the contrasting chorus makes you fall deeper into the song's appeal. ‘Pirate King’ was previously known through the pre-debut reality show and contains ATEEZ's ambitions toward a larger world. The second title track, ‘Treasure,’ is an oriental-style trap song rarely seen in the K-pop scene, a grand-scale piece where rapping and vocals of various tones achieve an exquisite harmony. As it is a song about leaving together to find each person's treasure, the progression of the song is very diverse. The rap and vocals lead the atmosphere of the song by exchanging parts without a dull moment, and the ethnic melody that bursts out in the hook is enough to evoke their journey of adventure. The overall production of the debut album was led by EDEN, a talented musician recognized for his musicality through work with BTOB, GFRIEND, and Produce 48, with composers BUDDY and LEEZ participating to establish not only high-quality music but also ATEEZ's own musical color. Additionally, the participation of ATEEZ rappers Hongjoong and Mingi in the lyrics increased the authenticity of the songs by incorporating the message ATEEZ wants to convey.
[Music Video]
ATEEZ's unique color is further imprinted in the music video.
Set against the backdrop of Morocco, known as the jewel of the Middle East, the music video further deepens the colors of ATEEZ. The vast canyons, the sprawling Sahara Desert, and the flag—a symbol of ATEEZ's arrival—express the journey that lies ahead and the infinite world that will expand through that journey. While a sense of solemnity is etched in the members' eyes in the music video, no fear is felt. They are filled only with the conviction that they can overcome any adventure because the eight of them are together.
