Remember. Good things never truly disappear. It has been quite a while since I released a new album. The title track is "Fade Away." As you may know, when I first heard the music, I thought, "Ah, I want to sing this song, I want to write this." While contemplating the lyrics for the title track, I thought of an old film reel spinning and the black-and-white movie seen through that film. A person watching the final screen of a movie slowly fading out, thinking, "Ah, our love will disappear like this..." Someone who wants it to stay, who wants it not to vanish, but knows in the end that it cannot be. However, there is a beauty that remains more vivid in memory precisely because of the scene just before the fade-out, the colors just before the end, and the knowledge that it is disappearing. The title of this album is [Unloved Echo]. It signifies the afterimage of a vanished love, an echo, a lingering resonance that continues to ring in the heart even after love has ended. In the six songs included in the album, you will likely see different forms of love, though I am not sure how each of those loves will remain in the listener's heart. I think it's always like that. Just as not everyone likes the same song the most, the feelings that remain in the heart differ even when listening to the same song. I am curious. In what form will the songs I am sending this time remain in your heart? Actually, I wrote a song about disappearing for this title track, but thinking about it carefully, it is quite ironic that the greatest strength that allows me to create an album like this is the heart you send me, which will never disappear. The heart that always worries about my sleep, worries about my meals, and worries that I might feel pressured by the stage and bind myself too tightly. And you tell me it's okay. That it's unconditionally okay. That there are times like that. So, to shake it off and stand up. Do you know? That you are giving me far more strength—thousands, tens of thousands of times more—than you think. That is how I gain the strength to sing again, write lyrics, exercise, and maintain my daily life. I don't think this feeling will disappear. No, it will not disappear. Come to think of it, I believe it was said in some movie. That good things never disappear. As I ramble on with these stories, it is currently a quite cold winter day. I hope these six songs I have carefully selected make your winter a little warmer. I say this every time, but I truly mean it. I hope my songs protect your world to be even a tiny bit more gentle, kind, and mild. That is enough. That is the reason I sing, and I believe that is the repayment I can offer for this strange and mysterious connection between you and me—or rather, for the strength you give me. Thank you. #01. When looking from the stage, the audience filling the venue sometimes looks like stars twinkling in the darkness. Just as the time when each person shines is different, one is most beautiful when walking their own path without comparing themselves to others. It contains the hope that everyone on that path finds their own light.
