The irony of starting with simple curiosity and small expectations, but becoming more and more difficult to give up as failures continue, is expressed by comparing it to being stuck in a loop. It depicts a story of constantly reaching back toward a goal that seems elusive, repeating expectations and frustrations, and eventually becoming unable to escape the process itself.
‘LOOP’ is an electro pop track that focuses on bit-crushed retro arcade sounds and glitchy textures, based on fast tempo electric pop. Through electronic sounds reminiscent of arcade games and developments that raise the tension like when facing a boss battle, it creates a sense of immersion as if jumping into the next challenge even before one attempt is over.
In particular, the signature arcade sound that is repeated throughout the song is directly related to the concept of ‘Loop’ in the song. This sound that keeps coming back goes hand in hand with the situation of repeating the same challenge while shouting “just one more time,” and the more you try to get out, the more you come back to the beginning, the ‘LOOP’ is embodied in the sound itself.
1VERSE members also directly participated in writing and composing this song. Adrian McKinnon, who has worked on songs by leading K-pop artists such as EXO, SHINee, and NCT 127, once again collaborated with 1VERSE following ‘SHATTERED’ and ‘WABIF (Wide Awake Before I Fall)’, and producer Skylar Mones, who participated in Dua Lipa’s ‘Future Nostalgia’, joined. Starting from the members' experiences, we developed the theme of claw machine together and told it through the repetitive story of ‘LOOP’ and game-like sound.
