[REAL] is an album placed upon a timeline where the boundaries of the present are blurred, mixed with memory and imagination, expectation and longing. Between the moments of looking back at a past love and the times that have yet to arrive, we sometimes miss the "now," which should be the most "real."
Within those moments of love that cannot be clearly defined, the album freely intersects and constantly varies a time where it is unclear what the beginning is and where the end lies, and where the emotions felt now cannot even be clearly distinguished between memory and expectation.
At the same time, [REAL] is an album in which artist Shinwoo reveals himself most honestly through music. Moving a step further from the musical experiences he has accumulated, he unfolds his story in the way that the current Shinwoo most wants to express. Centered around R&B, he moves through various textures and atmospheres, more freely unfolding his musical sensibilities across vocals, melody, and sound.
Therefore, the "REAL" in [REAL] does not simply mean "authentic." While it means showing the real me, it is also a response to Shinwoo's question: "What is truly real?" Because he has stepped away from his familiar image, the music feels unfamiliar yet, conversely, more vivid. Within that, Shinwoo faces a new starting point for his own world, situated between the music he has passed through and the music he will create in the future.
While pausing somewhere between the passed past and the unarrived future, [REAL] is the first record that most honestly captures the "present" of love, music, and artist Shinwoo.
