DAY6 member Young K will debut as a solo artist with the release of his first mini-album 'Eternal' on September 6.
Since debuting with the band DAY6 in September 2015, Young K has showcased deep musicality and a special sensibility, not only through his excellent vocal and instrumental skills but also by consistently participating in songwriting and composing for every album. After working on the group's representative songs such as 'Congratulations', 'You Were Beautiful', 'Time of Our Life', and 'Zombie', he proved his outstanding qualities as a singer-songwriter by putting his name in the credits of every track on the two mini-albums of DAY6's first unit, DAY6 (Even of Day), alongside Wonpil and Dowoon starting in August 2020. Now, in September 2021, he finally makes his debut as a solo artist, releasing an album that condenses the musical history he has carefully written up until now, once again shining a light on the true colors of singer-songwriter Young K.
Young K created a result that is more 'Young K-like' by directly conceiving the direction of the work and the album name, in addition to writing and composing all the songs for the first mini-album 'Eternal'. He personally named the new album after the English word for 'eternity,' inspired by his real name Kang Young-hyun, and added authenticity by honestly capturing the inner worries and stories told by human Kang Young-hyun. In particular, this album clearly reveals his sincere desire to 'sing forever' for the fans who send him infinite love and support.
The title track 'I'll Hold You Until the End' is characterized by a chorus where EMO hip-hop rhythms and emotional rock sounds unfold explosively; it is a song swearing to protect a loved one even if everything about him breaks.
The first solo album features a total of 7 songs, including the title track 'I'll Hold You Until the End', as well as 'Best Song', 'Love My Foot', 'Microphone (Feat. Dvwn)', 'want to love you', 'Come as You Are', and 'Sleep Well, My Dear'. Young K, the owner of the album who handled all the songwriting and composing, collaborated with leading writers such as Hong Ji-sang, HotSauce, Jeon Da-sol (Solsire), and Jukjae to increase the musical perfection.
Ahead of his solo debut, Young K shared the meaning of his first solo album 'Eternal', which he wrote himself, through a teaser video: "I sang from the days I did not exist, and I will sing until the days I no longer exist. Sometimes I sang together, and sometimes I had to sing steadfastly alone. All of that is the image of me singing. So that the world can hear every moment of mine, so that all my stories can fully fill the world, I sing. To be eternal." His firm sincerity within the new music will reach the lives and daily routines of listeners, as well as 'eternity', bringing a deep resonance in whatever form or appearance.
