The return of South Korea's one and only legendary rock band, an epic completed after 11 years.
GuckKasten is returning. And it is not a simple return, but an artistic explosion created by 11 years of densely concentrated time.
GuckKasten, the rock band representing South Korea, is releasing their third full-length album, **[AURUM]**. This album, presented for the first time in 11 years since their second full-length album, is the fruit of a long period of work, containing a total of 21 songs divided into 6 themes. Furthermore, by realizing sculptures that embody the message of each song through a collaboration with sculptor Ji Yong-ho, they are promising a new artistic experience that combines music with sculptural art, raising the expectations of fans and the public.
Aurum is Latin for 'gold' (the origin of the chemical symbol for gold, Au). Etymologically, it is connected to Indo-European roots meaning 'dawn/shine.' The core of the diverse stories encompassing this album is the unique 'value (song of gold)' that GuckKasten has searched for. That brilliant, incorruptible, eternal song (Aurum) is developed across 6 separate themes. Exploring and venturing into why we exist for one another, what a single step taken between darkness and light means, and what lies beyond everything we see and feel, they invite us into that kaleidoscope-like, unique, and colorful world.
The third full-length album [AURUM] will be released in a standard edition, the [AURUM] version, with cover artwork produced using the atomic symbol for 'gold'—the album's core message—as a motif, and a limited edition, the [Carousel Book] version, which reinterprets each sculpture as artwork in the form of a pop-up book. In particular, the limited edition will be produced in only 1,000 copies, adding collectible value with a special configuration that includes an acrylic numbering card engraved with a unique number.
