PURPLE KISS 3rd Mini Album [memeM] Released - “The way to get into your head is simpler than you think.” - ‘memeM’, the spell to enter the purple-stained world of the seven witches, ‘PURPLE KISS’. ‘PURPLE KISS’ will release their 3rd mini album [memeM] on March 29, 2022. Having debuted last March with [INTO VIOLET], PURPLE KISS earned the nickname ‘Balance-dol’ as complete idols who possess not only outstanding vocal and performance skills but also the ability to write lyrics, compose music, and create choreography. Furthermore, they are solidifying their own identity by presenting music with a theme and unique concepts in every album. This album, [memeM], is an album containing a creepy message: ‘PURPLE KISS, who have stained the world purple, will hover (memeM) around the listeners' heads and stir everything up.’ The album title ‘memeM’ is a compound word combining ‘meme,’ which refers to the trend of cultural elements, and the uppercase ‘M,’ meaning an unknown variable. Here, ‘M’ stands for the ‘Mystery’ of PURPLE KISS, whose identity is difficult to grasp, and the ‘Memory’ of you, whom they are targeting. It contains PURPLE KISS's bold ambition to lead trends while hovering (mem) around the listeners. To officially open the doors to their universe, PURPLE KISS pre-released story films. Through two videos, they provide hints to those curious about the existence of the mysterious witches of unknown identity. The first part shows the quirky daily lives of the lovely eccentric witches, and the second part, themed around ‘entering the mind’—one of the games the witches enjoy—evokes the opening sequence of an antique mystery movie. The title track ‘memeM,’ which shares the same name as the album, is a song featuring Kim Do-hoon, hitmakers Seo Yong-bae and Lee Hu-sang, and Kang Ji-won, who collaborated on previous works. It is a unique track where genres and BPM change like scene transitions, as if rummaging through memories; the lyrics ‘meme-meme-meme’ linger in the ear and dominate the mind, making it impossible to escape the charm of PURPLE KISS. In addition, the album includes ‘Intro: Illusion,’ which seems to lead the way into PURPLE KISS's mysterious and captivating world; ‘Oh My Gosh,’ which expresses their effortless coolness; ‘Pretty Psycho,’ a continuation of the previous album's ‘Intro: Freaky Purky’; ‘JOAH,’ which expresses the anxious emotions of someone in love through pure Korean lyrics; ‘Hate me, Hurt me, Love me,’ which depicts the image of ourselves rising above wounds; and ‘Cursor,’ which calmly unravels the emotions regarding the gap between reality and dreams. In particular, the high level of member participation stands out in this album. Member Yuki participated in rap-making, Na Go-eun in lyric writing, and Chaein included a self-composed song, showcasing their further grown musical capabilities. PURPLE KISS continues to grow with every album, expanding their own world. The seven cute witches of PURPLE KISS will cast the ‘memeM’ spell to bewitch you so that you cannot escape the purple world they have stained.
