My true self that I love, 'Nxde'
(G)I-DLE's fifth mini album [I love]
(G)I-DLE, who were recognized as representative K-POP artists after achieving their own best results—topping the iTunes charts in 24 regions worldwide and ranking 58th on the 'Billboard Global 200' chart upon their comeback in March 2022 with their first full-length album 'I NEVER DIE'—return after seven months, having successfully concluded the '2022 (G)I-DLE WORLD TOUR [JUST ME ( )I-DLE]' held in 18 cities across 10 countries. [I love] contains the bold determination that 'I' should exist as my true self, not as someone else wants me to be, and that I will cast off the superficialities I do not want and show my unadorned true self. The six tracks included in the album musically unfold stories about different kinds of love. They have fully digested various genres such as pop, rock, indie pop, and hip-hop in (G)I-DLE's own style. For this album as well, Jeon Soyeon led the overall production as the executive producer, and the members participated in the composition and lyrics of all songs, fully proving their status as 'all-around artists.' The title track 'Nxde' is an alternative pop song that borrows the melody of the aria 'Habanera' from the opera 'Carmen' to express everyone's persona as a 'Show.' It uses the word 'nude' as a metaphor for an individual's unadorned true self, and the lyrics are impressive for boldly satirizing the obscene gaze directed toward the word. The combination of the shuffle rhythm's rich bass line and the direct lyrics captures attention, making it feel like a musical number that you cannot take your eyes off for a single moment. Previously, (G)I-DLE raised expectations for the album by consecutively releasing three concept images: the 'Act' concept, which expressed the duality of the emotion of love; the 'Born' concept, with visuals inspired by Marilyn Monroe, who was immensely loved in Hollywood; and the 'X-File' concept, which faced the hidden side of an artist loved by everyone. Furthermore, the 'Nxde' music video uses animation to deliver the message in a way that is not too heavy, providing fans with a unique visual experience. (G)I-DLE break prejudices and stand barefoot on the ground to protect the things they love, the things that love them, and themselves, 'even if they look unsightly, and even if they might never be loved again.' Their footsteps, which will finally change the era, are all the more anticipated.

What is love? This magazine begins with love and speaks only of love. The forms of love can be diverse—family, friends, hobbies, lovers, dreams—and we respect all such forms of love. In the October issue of I love magazine, we captured the honesty of (G)I-DLE, who triggered the global ‘TOMBOY’ syndrome, regarding their love. Above all, they said they love themselves. They spoke candidly and honestly about the process of coming to these thoughts, and I, too, came to love them for that. Perhaps loving oneself can make one's self, one's life, and one's value more attractive than any other kind of love...
Why don't the readers of the October issue of I love also think about love once more, just as they did? EDITOR. JSY
