Lee Gi Kwang's First Full-Length Album [Predator]
A story about the novelty shown by a person who does not change.
The story of this album ultimately begins with an understanding of the person known as Lee Gi Kwang.
I know. This entertainment industry is mostly made up of people who always show something eye-catching, always new, and always a bit different, and people who want to see exactly that. Therefore, it is only natural to always contemplate something new. Of course, as a member of a group, he has pondered endlessly and suggested various ideas, but he felt that what he could show on his own was slightly different.
That is why he was a bit more ambitious this time. From flashy accessories and hats he had never worn before, to thick eyeliner and various outfits, songs of newly attempted genres, and eye-catching choreography—he created this album by densely packing it with diverse sides of himself that have never been seen since his debut.
Showing a new side is always nerve-wracking. In today's world where "likes" and "dislikes" are so clear, there is certainly a vague anxiety about whether people might dislike his transformation. Even so, I hope you consider that both this side and that side are all original parts of the person Lee Gi Kwang.
That the impressive choreography came from a tenacity of practicing every single small movement endlessly to ensure it looks the best to the audience; that the full tracklist of 12 captivating songs came from a quiet persistence of composing and collecting self-written songs long ago, waiting for the day they would be released to the world and selecting the best ones; and that the various costumes and ideas for the album came from his sincerity in constantly pondering and thinking. That he was always that kind of person, and a person who has remained unchanged for a very long time.
A person who has lived steadily with his own tension within his own time. The various different sides within himself that such a person has gathered strength to show—the stark gap of change shown by a truly unchanging person—will be the reason we come to love him even more.
And because there is still so much for him to show and so many unknown parts that make him mysterious, we will continue to look forward to him in the days we spend together.
