Boys as they are
SEVENTEEN 2nd Mini Album `BOYS BE`
SEVENTEEN, the most noticed rookie in the music industry during the first half of 2015, has returned with their second mini-album [BOYS BE]. With a unique group system consisting of three units—Hip-hop, Vocal, and Performance—and with all members participating in the planning, lyric writing, composing, and choreography of the album's tracks led by producer Woozi, they have succeeded in establishing a unique position in the boy group scene under the title of "self-producing idols." Furthermore, they successfully gained the interest and love of many fans by fully showcasing the refreshing image of boys through their debut song "Adore U."
As an extension of their debut album, SEVENTEEN's second mini-album is described by the amorphous phrase "BOYS BE." Within the title "BOYS BE," they have captured SEVENTEEN's true selves, which cannot be expressed through forced or standardized packaging, and simultaneously, a SEVENTEEN that will continue to move toward perfection. The second mini-album "BOYS BE" was completed by adding the unique refreshing energy created when thirteen boys are together and the infinite potential for growth felt through the music they create themselves.
The title track "Mansae" is a song completed with lyrics and composition by Woozi, following their first debut song "Adore U," and is an impressive track with a powerful bass riff and a unique song structure and arrangement. Combined with the outstanding singing ability of the Vocal Unit, the rap of the Hip-hop Unit, and the choreography by Hoshi, the leader of the Performance Unit, it was completed as a song where the cheerfulness and power of the 13 members are felt simultaneously. "Mansae," a song with an interesting progression where they shout "Hey, girl!" and then shyly mutter to themselves, "A flower called you has bloomed," expresses the love of boys that SEVENTEEN wishes to convey with a witty sensibility.
In addition, the album contains a total of five songs, including "Fighting" (Expression Control), which features an impressive blend of sophisticated beats and different storytelling from the Hip-hop Unit; "OMG," a track by the Performance Unit that creates anticipation for the stage with its intense EDM trap; "When I Grow Up," by the Vocal Unit, which expresses the sadness of clumsy feelings of love through warm R&B; and "ROCK," which features a trendy synth-pop sound and an addictive chorus.
