"I hate sweet tastes because they're too sweet."
The successful debut of Acid Angel from Asia, armed with an acid taste.
From "I hope the wind and rain get stronger for the stronger me" in ‘Rising,’ tripleS—who have been running relentlessly since their debut—now present another dimension.
Girls filled with eyes that are not just clear and transparent, but sparkling. +(KR)ystal Eyes finally debuts. The period of waiting since they were formed by fan votes in late 2022 has been filled with clear and distinct preparation, and they are now ready to meet their fans.
‘AESTHETIC,’ which reinterprets the Y2K sensibility through the music taste of 2023, was named to signify the pursuit of aesthetic visuals and music that maximize the charm of +(KR)ystal Eyes.
The concept began with the imagination: "What would groups like S.E.S. or Fin.K.L look like if they time-leaped into this world, where they can now only be found as archival footage on YouTube? What kind of music would it be if the sensibilities of that time were interpreted through emojis?"
The first track, ‘Cherry 100%,’ serves as the intro to the title track ‘Cherry Talk,’ packed with a juicy and refreshing sound.
The title track ‘Cherry Talk’ tells the story of a generation for whom emoji emotional expressions are faster than conversations or texts. While Acid Angel from Asia sang about selfies and TikTok, ‘Cherry Talk’ sings about Instagram Stories and DMs that disappear quickly. It expresses the existentialism of teenagers through music—where emotions are visualized instantaneously, but those visual images are not eternal. Led by producer Yoon Jong-sung of MonoTree, the song delivers NuDance layered with RGB sounds, featuring a charm found in the details within its cuteness.
The sub-track ‘Touch’ replicates the girl group sound of the late 90s. It is a hot track unique to +(KR)ystal Eyes that offers nostalgia to those remembering the girls of the Y2K era and freshness to the generation that only knows that era through internet videos. Hymax, who produced tripleS' ‘Colorful,’ has once again lent his strength.
No matter how much direct expression of love is considered a virtue these days, there are still girls here who cannot express their hearts and keep them hidden. ‘(Hide it) Hide&Seek’ captures shy hearts and the fluttering emotions of love in a Sugar Pop style.
The spin-off track ‘Deja-Vu’ from tripleS ‘Rising,’ which was called a ‘Deja-Vu of reality, not a dream,’ garnered attention from its introduction due to member Park So-hyun's participation in producing. Park So-hyun, who possesses surprising potential despite her young experience, worked alongside Fuxxy and Anymasingga—producers of ‘Beam’—to enhance the album's completion. Thus, it asks: Is that deja-vu-like dream a dream come true? Or a dream from which one has awakened?
The final track is decorated by an arrangement of tripleS' original number ‘Dimension’ in the +(KR)ystal Eyes version. Composed with a clear and refreshing arrangement different from Acid Angel from Asia, the song once again reminds us of tripleS' unique theme of gathering strength when together.
The idol of all possibilities. Generation and growth. And through combination, the amazing future of tripleS, which will continue to grow stronger, is now gradually becoming a reality.
