Release of ONEWE's third mini-album [Planet Nine : ISOTROPY], featuring self-composed tracks for every song
Release of the title track 'Beautiful Ashes,' showcasing ONEWE's signature poignant and overwhelming band sound
The 'trust-and-listen band' ONEWE will return on April 17th as a full group after approximately one year and three months with their third mini-album, 'Planet Nine : ISOTROPY.' Composed of Yonghoon (main vocal), Kanghyun (guitar), Harin (drums), Dongmyeong (vocal/keyboard), and Giuk (rap/bass), ONEWE is a talented band that has established itself as a global trendsetter, demonstrating unrivaled musicality and steady growth recognized by both critics and fans since their debut.
The third mini-album 'Planet Nine : ISOTROPY' is an extension of the 'Planet Nine series,' which showcased ONEWE's unique musical world. Using 'ISOTROPY'—meaning that properties remain unchanged even if the state changes—as the main keyword, the album captures the further development of the five members while maintaining ONEWE's distinct identity. All members participated in the songwriting for this album, which consists entirely of self-composed tracks, demonstrating their high musical capabilities as artists.
The title track 'Beautiful Ashes' is a song participated in by Yonghoon and Giuk, characterized by a beautiful melody that contrasts with its sad lyrics. Along with ONEWE's signature poignant and overwhelming band sound, the arrangement features a perfect narrative structure, expressing rushing longing and regret without reservation. Recalling the warmth of that time which can no longer be felt, they send away the burning memories. 'I should throw everything away, here at the incinerator of memories.'
The third mini-album 'Planet Nine : ISOTROPY' consists of a total of six songs, including the title track 'Beautiful Ashes,' 'Shoot It Out,' which features an attractive and intense guitar sound; 'Meteor Shower,' expressing the fluttering heart of a midsummer night; 'Count the stars,' containing simple yet beautiful sincerity; 'Kiss in the Rain,' highlighted by romantic lyrics and a jazzy blues rhythm; and 'Pleasant,' which promises to be together forever while reflecting on their moments. As it includes self-composed songs from each member, it is expected to showcase diverse charms while proving ONEWE's unique musical identity.
01. Beautiful Ashes
Lyrics by Yonghoon, Giuk
Composed by Jeon Da-woon (RBW), Yonghoon, Giuk
Arranged by Jeon Da-woon (RBW), Kanghyun, Harin
Full of emptiness and noisy silence, this place where paradoxes run rampant: the incinerator of memories. Our vaguely scorched traces are this beautiful even while turning gray. Starting with a first phrase like a monologue, the arrangement—containing a perfect narrative structure—expresses rushing longing and regret without reservation. Recalling the warmth of that time which can no longer be felt, they send away the burning memories. 'I should throw everything away, here at the incinerator of memories.'
02. Shoot It Out
Lyrics by Kanghyun, Giuk
Composed by Kanghyun, Coco-Dubu-Appa (RBW)
Arranged by Coco-Dubu-Appa (RBW), Kanghyun
Notes in close proximity sometimes create dissonance. When you and I, who used to make different sounds, shared the same name in a parallel universe, we finally became a melody. The sharply piercing guitar sound fires an intense signal toward you, and the heavy yet agile bass and drum beats spread endlessly to reach that end. 'Shoot It Out more toward you.'
03.
Midsummer Night's Meteor Shower (Meteor Shower)
Lyrics by Gi-uk
Composed by Gi-uk, Gray Dot
Arranged by Gi-uk, Gray Dot
The countless stairs I climbed with you, who loved the night sky so much. Even when standing and facing the same direction, my gaze was entirely on you. That day, I carved it deep within me—to the point where I could picture you without hesitation even with my eyes closed—that the stars weren't the only things shining brightly in the darkness. The piano line, repeating its ascent and descent, represents a heart falling uncontrollably in love, and the brilliant guitar solo in the latter half expresses the radiance of the falling meteor shower. ‘The countless shooting stars I missed while gazing at you’
04. Count The Stars (별 세는 너)
Lyrics by Yong-hoon, Gi-uk
Composed by Yong-hoon, Jeon Da-woon (RBW)
Arranged by Jeon Da-woon (RBW), Yong-hoon
Do you know that every season we spent together and the layers of accumulated moments were by no means a coincidence? That your laughter made flowers bloom even in sub-zero weather, and that the language of those flowers was ‘love.’ A night spent whispering to you as you sleep on my shoulder. Based on a sound with a sense of space, the dreamy yet seamless performance fills the emotion of the song, and the simple yet beautiful sentences express the sincerity contained within even more deeply. ‘I want to always run to you and hold your hand tight, so that I can never let go’
05. Kiss in the Rain
Lyrics by Dong-myeong, Gi-uk
Composed by Jeon Da-woon (RBW), Dong-myeong, Coco-Dubu-Appa (RBW), Gi-uk
Arranged by Jeon Da-woon (RBW), Coco-Dubu-Appa (RBW)
We all stand beneath our own dark clouds every day. Everything we dreamed of disappeared into those dark clouds long ago. But perhaps it was I who had actually hidden away. The arpeggios of retro piano chords and the jazzy blues rhythm bring warm heat to a frozen heart, and the romantic lyrics flowing over them comfort the me of yesterday who was crying. ‘No matter what misfortune comes, let's just smile and dance, in the rain. Freely. Let's love’
06. Pleasant (다시 만나서 반가워)
Lyrics by Ha-rin, Yong-hoon, Gi-uk
Composed by Ha-rin, Jeon Da-woon (RBW)
Arranged by Jeon Da-woon (RBW), Ha-rin, Kang-hyun
Faint yet brilliant 'memories' were the only thing that made the emptiness of absence bearable. Eventually, everything becomes the past, and we become one once again. The synthesizer sound that signals the start of the song acts as a flare for a new starting line, and the relentlessly driving drum beat is like our own sprint forward. ‘Drawing our moments, I hope we stay together until the time closest to eternity’
