《WHY NOT ME?》 is the second mini-album featuring the growth story of NINA, who ultimately discovers her true self through love.
From the fluttering excitement of first love and the tension of "push and pull," to the anxiety and wounds of a wavering relationship, and through regret and parting, until finally realizing how to love oneself—the six tracks flow through various emotions of love to complete a single youth narrative of a girl's growth.
In this album, rather than a story about loving someone else, NINA sings about the process of discovering her true self through the experience of love. Facing her emotions sometimes boldly and playfully, and at other times honestly and calmly, she has captured the purest and most realistic emotions a girl can feel.
Musically, the album organically traverses various genres centered around Contemporary R&B, including Hip-Hop, Pop, Swing EDM, Alternative Pop, and Ballads, three-dimensionally expressing the shifting emotional lines of each track. Producer Lee Hyun-seung, who created numerous hit songs such as EXO's "CALL ME BABY," Ailee's "I Will Show You," Davichi's "8282," Kim Tae-woo's "Love Rain," and Baek Z Young's "Don't Forget," spent approximately one year working with NINA, deeply studying her voice, emotions, and individuality to complete music that captures NINA's unique color rather than following trends. 《WHY NOT ME?》 is an album that embodies the musical identity of NINA born from this process. Through collaborations between Korean and international producers, it harmoniously blends the unique sensibility of K-POP with a global pop sound, while NINA's clear and distinctive vocals connect the entire album into a single story.
Furthermore, by producing both Korean and Chinese versions, the album was completed as a global project targeting both the Korean and Greater China markets, serving as a meaningful work that demonstrates NINA's musical potential and her first steps as a global artist.
Ultimately, 《WHY NOT ME?》 is not a story about love. It is the most honest record of a girl who understands herself through the emotion of love, transforms wounds into growth, and finally comes to love herself.
"Love is not about meeting someone else, but a process of discovering oneself."
