Clarinetist Dam-on Jeong
[Passion & Consolation]
Passion and Consolation
Clarinetist Dam-on Jeong, characterized by her fresh musicality and delicate expressive power.
The music in Dam-on Jeong's first album, "Passion & Consolation," allows one to feel the invisible line flowing between people and music.
At first glance, the words "passion" and "consolation" may sound contradictory, but the title was chosen based on the thought that consolation is possible precisely because passion exists.
The first piece on the album, Finzi's Five Bagatelles op.23, captures the writhing passion inherent within the heart, while the second piece, Vanhal's Sonata in E-flat Major, reaches out to people with a tender sensibility.
Following this, Mozart's Clarinet Concerto K.622: Ⅱ. Adagio (From "Out of Africa") seems to pull our hearts into a state of weightlessness, and the warm tone of the clarinet and the music finally become a great consolation, gently soothing our souls.
Each of these pieces is an essential work that every clarinetist must perform and through which they can be objectively evaluated as a performer.
Releasing pieces through an album rather than a performance is a tremendous musical challenge and adventure that no performer in the world can easily undertake.
Based on her unique, fresh musicality and delicate expressive power that no other performer can imitate, clarinetist Dam-on Jeong has successfully completed this great challenge and proves it to us through this album. Her enterprising journey, having completed a clarinet album that ranks among the few of its kind worldwide, will continue, and her deep and delicate expressiveness will appear to us like a precious gift.
