Kyung-eun Kim's 2nd Full-length Album with Sony Classical
★The Dreamlike Beauty of the Piano★
Pianist Kyung-eun Kim
DREAMS
A collection of short pieces by pianist Kyung-eun Kim, gathering the most romantic piano works from Debussy, Satie, Ravel, Brahms, Chopin, Liszt, to Schumann.
Pianist Kyung-eun Kim, who was highly praised by Vlado Perlemuter, the last student of Ravel, as "a performer who creates the beauty and lingering resonance of musical emotion stemming from human warmth!"
In this album, her second release since her first full-length album in 2021, she meets classical music fans under the theme of 'Dreams.' The idea began from the fact that Impressionist music of the time, including Ravel, achieved musical completion within a characteristic dreamlike atmosphere along with 'imagistic elements,' and that these were all based on such delicate compositions that they often leave the impression of dreaming.
This album features some of the most well-known and familiar piano short pieces to the public, such as Debussy's Clair de Lune, Satie's Gymnopédies, Brahms' Intermezzo and Romance, Liszt's Liebestraum, and Schumann's Träumerei. While providing comfort during the listening experience, it evokes infinite imagination and fantasy through Kyung-eun Kim's unique new interpretations.
Pianist Kyung-eun Kim entered the Yehudi Menuhin School of Music at the age of 8, studying under Nikolai Dmidenko and Irina Zaritskaya, and later continued her studies at the Purcell School of Music. At 16, she became the youngest student to enter the Juilliard School, where she completed her bachelor's and master's degrees under the guidance of Jerome Lowenthal and Seymour Lipkin. In 2004, she studied under Solomon Mikulski at the Manhattan School of Music, earning her Artist Diploma and a doctoral degree, writing her doctoral thesis on Unsuk Chin's piano concerto. In 2011, she emerged on the world stage by winning 3rd place at the International Mozart Competition.
Since 2010, while nurturing future generations at the Catholic University of Korea, Kyung-eun Kim has demonstrated her passion for contemporary music by bringing the works of modern masters to the stage several times. To commemorate the release of this album, she will hold a recital on July 17th at 2:00 PM at the Seoul Arts Center's Incheon Art Hall.
