SM Entertainment (hereinafter referred to as SM) is launching ‘SMTOWN 2022: SMCU EXPRESS’, a comprehensive content project where you can experience performances, albums, and exhibitions all at once.
This ‘SMTOWN 2022’ project is under the concept of ‘SMCU EXPRESS’, and expands the worldview of artists, newly named ‘Metaversal Origin Story’ by general producer Soo-man Lee, based on SMCU (SM Culture Universe). It will present not only performances but also albums and exhibitions in advance so that you can comprehensively experience the future content in the metaverse as seen by producer Soo-man Lee and SM.
‘SMTOWN LIVE 2022: SMCU EXPRESS@KWANGYA’, which will be held on January 1, has been held in major cities around the world since 2008 and has not only set various records, but also launched SMTOWN LIVE, which launched SM’s mega-virtual nation MUSIC NATION SMTOWN through the virtual nation declaration ceremony in 2012, as ‘SMCU’ where all artists gather in a virtual space called ‘KWANGYA’ (wilderness). With 'EXPRESS STATION' as the background, the performance content pursued by SM has been compiled.
In particular, this concert is planned as a free performance to comfort and convey hope to fans around the world who are exhausted due to the prolonged COVID-19, and is expected to be a great gift to global music fans. It will be broadcast around the world through YouTube, the newly launched global platform dedicated to Beyond LIVE, and the LG U+ Idol Live app/web.
Prior to this, '2021 Winter SMTOWN: SMCU EXPRESS', which will be released on December 27th, is the SMTOWN winter album released by SM for the first time in 10 years since 2011. SM singers active around the world participate, allowing you to see not only songs by team but also a variety of member combinations that have not been seen anywhere else, and pre-orders are available from today (10th).
In addition, the media content exhibition ‘SMTOWN EXPERIENCE: PLAY@KWANGYA’, which starts on December 30th, is expected to attract the interest of music fans by utilizing the LED display board located on the first floor of SM Seongsu’s new building, and playing video content that allows users to see this project at a glance.
Meanwhile, the ‘SMTOWN 2022: SMCU EXPRESS’ concept poster, which was released through SMTOWN’s official SNS account on the 10th, captured attention as it contained a lineup of artists announcing the start of a special project that includes performances, albums, and exhibitions.
