Remember. Good things never truly disappear. It has been quite a while since I released a new album. The title track is "Fade Away." As you may know, when I first heard the music, I thought, "Ah, I want to sing this song, I want to write this." While contemplating the lyrics for the title track, I thought of an old film reel spinning and the black-and-white movie seen through that film. A person watching the final screen of a movie slowly fading out, thinking, "Ah, our love will disappear like this..." Someone who wants it to stay, who wants it not to vanish, but knows in the end that it cannot be. However, there is a beauty that remains more vivid in memory precisely because of the scene just before the fade-out, the colors just before the end, and the knowledge that it is disappearing.
The title of this album is [Unloved Echo]. It signifies the afterimage of a vanished love, an echo, a lingering resonance that continues to ring in the heart even after love has ended. In the six songs included in the album, you will likely see different forms of love, though I am not sure how each of those loves will remain in the hearts of the listeners. I think it is always like that. Just as not everyone likes the same song the most, the feelings that remain in the heart differ even when listening to the same song. I am curious. In what form will the songs I am sending this time remain in your heart?
Actually, I wrote a song about disappearing for this title track, but thinking about it carefully, it is quite ironic that the greatest strength that allows me to create an album like this is the heart you send me, which will never disappear. The heart that always worries about my sleep, worries about my meals, and worries that I might feel pressured by the stage and bind myself too tightly. And you tell me it's okay. That it's unconditionally okay. That there are times like that. So, to shake it off and stand up. Do you know? That you are giving me far more strength—thousands, tens of thousands of times more—than you think. That is how I gain the strength to sing again, write lyrics, exercise, and maintain my daily life. I don't think this feeling will disappear. No, it will not disappear. Come to think of it, I believe it was said in some movie. That good things never disappear.
As I ramble on with these stories, it is currently a quite cold winter day. I hope these six songs I have carefully selected make your winter a little warmer. I say this every time, but I truly mean it. I hope my songs protect your world to be even a tiny bit more gentle, kind, and mild. That is enough. That is the reason I sing, and I believe that is the repayment I can make for this strange and mysterious connection between you and me—or rather, for the strength you give me. Thank you.
#01. Fade Away (옅어져 가)
Lyrics: Yang Yoseob
Composition: KZ, Kim Tae-young, DINT, HOFF
Arrangement: KZ, Kim Tae-young
A dark and heavy piano sound opens the gates, followed by heart-wrenching vocals and a dramatic melody line that stay until the end of the song. The grand arrangement that gradually builds up is also charming. It sings of the feelings for a love that can no longer be held even if one wants to. Like the image of that person faintly fading away, the heart that could never be calm until the end eventually reaches its slow conclusion.
#02.
Beyond the Night (Dear My)
Lyrics: MELO MADE (NEWTYPE)
Composition: MELO MADE (NEWTYPE), 1Take (NEWTYPE), Add Blessed (NEWTYPE), REIDD (NEWTYPE), Anna (NEWTYPE)
Arrangement: Add Blessed (NEWTYPE), REIDD (NEWTYPE), MELO MADE (NEWTYPE)
A pop ballad containing feelings of gratitude sent to those who became a light for one another during the dark and long night. The emotional and beautiful piano melody, combined with Yang Yo Seob's uniquely delicate and deep appeal, leaves a profound resonance and lingering impression. It offers a message of warm comfort and empathy "to everyone who has emerged into the bright light after passing through the night of nights, and to all those who will now move forward." A song dedicated to the people who always stayed in their place unchangingly and became everything.
#03. Don't Leave
Lyrics: Yang Yo Seob, Gyuberlake
Composition: Yang Yo Seob, Gyuberlake
Arrangement: Yang Yo Seob, Gyuberlake
A pop ballad characterized by sophisticated arrangement and a lyrical melody. Yang Yo Seob's clear voice and precise breath control express the sincerity contained within more densely. It captures the subtle waves of emotion felt on the threshold of a breakup like a movie. It heartbreakingly depicts the regret and sorrow of trying to deny the end of a relationship and attempting to prolong it even when the end is in sight.
#04. Moonlit Mirage
Lyrics: Wkly
Composition: PUFF, Junji
Arrangement: PUFF
An R&B song characterized by a repetitive guitar riff and a rhythmical trap beat. The lyrics, which express a deep longing for a woman who is like a mirage seen in the moonlight, blend with a dreamy and desperate voice. The vivid white moonlight that unfolds at the start and the time flowing beneath it are so charming and beautiful that one keeps feeling regret as the song ends.
#05. Every Night
Lyrics: Yang Yo Seob, Gyuberlake
Composition: Yang Yo Seob, Gyuberlake
Arrangement: Yang Yo Seob, Gyuberlake
This song depicts the longing that follows a breakup in a calm yet deep manner. Over a structure that begins with a gentle piano melody and builds emotion toward the latter half, Yang Yo Seob's characteristic delicate falsetto maximizes the lonely sensibility of the night. The restrained emotion felt in the voice and the explosive vocal power of the climax deliver the emptiness after a breakup three-dimensionally to the listener, leaving a long lingering aftertaste.
#06. Just for Today (Shine)
Lyrics: BYDOR ARCHIVE
Composition: BYDOR ARCHIVE, PATEKO
Arrangement: BYDOR ARCHIVE
A rock sound song where an exciting band sound and energetic audio harmonize. The voice, stretching out refreshingly, simultaneously conveys overwhelming emotion, excitement, and comfort. When looking from the stage, the audience filling the venue sometimes looks like stars twinkling in the darkness. Just as the time when each person shines is different, one is most beautiful when walking their own path without comparing themselves to others. It contains the hope that everyone on that path finds their own light.
