'CHASE EPISODE 1. GGUM'
DONGKIZ 5th Single Album [CHASE EPISODE 1. GGUM]
• A story of boys growing one step at a time as they chase their dreams
• "On frustrating days, cause some trouble like a child!" A voice rejecting the boredom of daily life
• The refreshing charm of mischief-makers that will blow away the midsummer heat in one go
DONGKIZ, who has been loved for their steady activities since their debut in April 2019 by challenging and mastering a unique musical atmosphere and various concepts, has returned with the cheerfulness of summer following the freshness of spring.
The theme of the series episode album starting this time is 'CHASE,' referring to chasing something, and it consists of a total of three stories dealing with the growth of boys. The first theme DONGKIZ chases is 'dreams,' and the album 'CHASE EPISODE 1. GGUM,' released on July 1st, uniquely expresses the Korean word for dream ('kkum') by using its phonetic pronunciation instead of the English word 'Dream.' This also demonstrates DONGKIZ's concept of rejecting conventional notions; in subsequent albums, they plan to move past the boy chasing dreams to discuss various themes experienced during growth, such as love and parting.
The title track of DONGKIZ's 5th Single Album, released on July 1st, 'CRAZY NIGHT' (literally: Horns on a Naughty Calf's Butt), was produced by the rising producer Cray bin. It is a song that anyone can easily enjoy with an exciting beat and a funky bass line. With a unique title derived from a proverb, the song features cheerful and fun lyrics about becoming a mischief-maker who rejects the ordinariness and boredom of daily life, conveying the message to live as one wishes, even if only for a moment, amidst a difficult life.
For the performance, choreographer Choi Young-jun, who has worked as a dance trainer for the Produce series and has been in charge of choreography for top domestic artists such as SEVENTEEN, GOT7, Wanna One, NU'EST, and THE BOYZ, has collaborated with DONGKIZ for the first time. The choreography expressing 'horns on the butt' is original, and they plan to dominate the stage even more excitedly with a performance that feels like playing around like pranksters.
Additionally, DONGKIZ's mascot character, the ghost 'Donggeuli,' who last appeared on stage together two years ago in the 2019 album 'BlockBuster,' makes a welcome return. Together with the members, Donggeuli will set out on a refreshing summer hunt, capturing both the fun of watching and the fun of listening to the stage.
Furthermore, DONGKIZ, who has included special tracks for fans on every CD, has prepared a 'Special Thanks to' version by Kyoungyoon for this album. Utilizing his skill in playing the guitar, he performed an acoustic version of the title track 'CRAZY NIGHT,' and accompanied it with a voice letter expressing his gratitude to the fans.
The first curtain is about to open on the new series album presented by DONGKIZ, who continue to grow step by step while providing the public with fresh enjoyment through always new concepts and diverse stage compositions. We look forward to their unique energy that will make the summer of 2021 cheerful.
