MONSTA X 3rd English Album [Unfold]

"Breathing again,
while still broken"

Sincerity revealed
for the first time in 10 years.
MONSTA X has returned with their third full-length US album, [Unfold]. 'Unfold' means to open something that was folded. Everything about this album is compressed into that one word. Over the past 10 years, they were intense on stage. They were fierce. Because of that, they had to fold away even more things: wounds, growing pains, fading love, and the inner voices they didn't even know they had. [Unfold] is a record of all those things finally beginning to breathe. -
heal: How to breathe again
alongside the wounds
The title track 'heal', which opens the album, is a song that questions the meaning of 'true recovery' within a relationship where two people cannot let go of each other and continue to repeat their wounds. "A single nail in the heart. The more you love, the deeper it is driven, and the deeper it goes, the wider the wound opens." This is the premise of the song. Wounds are not erased. Nevertheless, we love. The song asks until the very end whether love can truly be a cure. A heavy and grand sound builds up in layers, clearly revealing the tension and cracks of emotion. In the gradual progression from a restrained introduction to an exploding chorus, a paradoxical truth is revealed: that love can be a comfort, but it can also become another wound. The music video completes this message through visual language. Red nails, hammers, spools of thread. The process where a light word becomes a hammer and emotions become nails driven into the heart. It is a story of the members facing their wounds in their own rooms, in their own ways. And in the final scene, they embrace each other without explanation. Still together. -
Ten snapshots, rewinding the records of love
[Unfold] is an album with a clear narrative. Two pre-release singles have already marked the album's coordinates. 'baby blue' reminisced about the afterimage of a fading love, and 'growing pains' calmly confessed to the ten years of instability. [Unfold] brings out more of the emotions at the root of those two stories. The album's tracks contain love of different temperatures. 'this!', which captures a sensual excitement over a modern R&B groove; 'before you met me', which depicts the time spent trying to change each other within love as a cinematic pop ballad; and 'glass half empty', a contemporary pop track that compares an inner self exhausted for the sake of others to an 'empty glass'. The commonality of these songs is this: they do not glamorize emotion. Love is not only beautiful. It is fluttering, but it is draining. It is hot, but eventually, it cools. You give wounds, and you receive wounds. [Unfold] honestly lays out all those sides. They exist within this album not as the perfect performers of MONSTA X, but as humans who have loved and been hurt. The atmosphere of the latter half takes a different turn. 'main attraction', where they regain confidence with a new-tro synth-pop sound; 'enemies with benefits', which sophisticatedly captures a precarious relationship where love and hate intersect; and 'on our way', where the excitement begins again. Finally, the closing track 'sorry to myself' is a song where one apologizes to oneself, rather than the partner, in the face of a breakup. It is self-deprecating but does not collapse. It is sad but does not sag. Forgiveness directed toward oneself, not others. That is the final sentence of [Unfold]. -
A peak status proven by records... an 'ongoing' expansion
The artist's most human story
Since their debut in 2015, MONSTA X has heated up the K-pop scene, showcasing their heavy potential.
Released in 2025 to mark their 10th debut anniversary, the digital album [NOW PROJECT vol.1] entered the iTunes charts in 18 regions worldwide, despite consisting of previously released songs. Subsequently, the mini-album [THE X], released in September, broke their career high for first-week sales. Furthermore, they added new records to their 10th anniversary by entering six charts, including the Billboard main chart 'Billboard 200', as well as 'World Albums', 'Independent Albums', 'Top Album Sales', 'Top Current Album Sales', and the 'Billboard Artist 100'. Additionally, last December, they participated in the '2025 iHeartRadio Jingle Ball Tour' for the fourth time in their career, once again confirming their global influence by drawing overwhelming reactions in major U.S. cities. [Unfold] comes next. The price paid to become strong, the emotions that had to be folded away within that process, and the true story that can finally be brought out. This is the inner self and the human face that the members, who have run for 10 years, are revealing fully for the first time. -
Another Name for Strength
10 tracks, 40 minutes. [Unfold] is one long emotional journey of facing wounds, passing through growing pains, watching fading love, going through burnout and recovery, and finally returning to oneself. Strength has not disappeared. Only this time, that strength was used to embrace vulnerability instead of hiding it. The most human album, created by members who have run together for 10 years, using that time as their material. When the things that were folded are unfolded, the real story finally begins.
