ITZY will release their new mini album 'TUNNEL VISION' and the title track of the same name on November 10th.
Since their official debut on February 12, 2019, ITZY has been loved by K-pop fans domestically and internationally, showcasing stages equipped with solid skills in every work. Previously, they continued their activities as 'K-pop performance queens,' garnering positive responses with the mini album 'Girls Will Be Girls' released in June and the Japanese full-length album 'Collector' released in October.
The new album 'TUNNEL VISION' puts forward 'dangerous immersion' as its main keyword. The message that "extreme immersion creates either an 'excessive expansion' or a 'complete blockage' of the senses. Extreme immersion is not a state of quiet concentration but a runaway of the senses, through which the ego undergoes deconstruction and reconstruction" is melted into the overall album and the title track. The new song of the same name tells a story of moving toward the light at one's own pace and in a self-chosen direction, even amidst the chaos of dangerously crossing the two extremes of overheated senses and complete disconnection within tunnel vision. Brass sounds blending over a hip-hop-based beat add weight to complete a grand sound, and layered vocals expand the sense of space.
The music video was helmed by Director Yoon Seung-rim of Legend Film, who has created music videos for numerous leading K-pop artists. The process of becoming deeply immersed and falling into something was visualized according to a series of processes—the runaway of previously blocked senses and eventual rupture—and combined with intense performance direction to provide a unique visual experience. Additionally, grooves inspired by Afro and hip-hop dance, disciplined movements, and various choreographies symbolizing a tunnel serve as key points to increase the enjoyment of watching the stage. Famous K-pop dance teams La Chica and Kirsten, who have created performances for numerous hit songs, participated in the choreography, creating synergy with ITZY.
Along with the title track 'TUNNEL VISION,' the album includes a total of 6 songs: 'Focus,' which sings about the moment of boldly jumping toward a new goal; 'DYT,' which conveys a confident way of loving; 'Flicker,' which speaks of possibilities amidst uncertain situations; 'Nocturne,' which emphasizes the awareness needed to escape the darkness; and '8-BIT HEART,' which depicts the process of finding one's true self. It forms a dramatic musical flow, composed of an organic narrative of finding one's own light and identity.
To enhance the quality of this album, leading writers joined forces, including famous American composer and producer Dem Jointz, who has collaborated with world-renowned artists such as Eminem and Rihanna, and K-pop's representative producer KENZIE.
Attention is focused on whether ITZY, returning with deeper narratives and music, will awaken new auditory senses with 'TUNNEL VISION.'
