Billlie the first single album [side-B : memoirs of echo unseen]
“What am I? Who am I?”
Billlie's current album is a single album released 7 months after their 4th mini album [the Billage of perception: chapter three] last March. It deals with 'side-B', a story of another time and space continuing within their unique storytelling, and is a work based on the concept of a side story (別傳) derived from the series they have been continuing through [the Billage of perception] and [the collective soul and unconscious]. Since their debut, as reflected in the nickname 'Billlieverse (Billlie + Universe)' created by domestic and international fans, Billlie has explored original and experimental music that breaks existing molds with every comeback. By completing high-quality albums where music, video, art, and story are finished in Billlie's own colors, they have secured a unique and distinct position in the K-POP scene. In particular, the title track 'EUNOIA' from their previous 4th mini album reached number one on music shows 511 days after their debut, and following their successful debut in Japan, they are maintaining a firm position for Billlie in both domestic and international music markets. Through this album, which deals with a story of growth within the 'Billlieverse', Billlie will further expand that position, expressing a short story of reflections on emotional changes, realizations, and worries that anyone would have experienced at least once while growing up, all in Billlie's own style. Creating a story where the spaces of reality and unreality are ambiguously and mysteriously mixed and clash, they unravel the adventure of the same ego in different spaces using sensory language, allowing listeners to further enjoy Billlie's imagination. 'BYOB (bring your own best friend)', released ahead of the first single, is a disco-pop sound of the easy-listening genre, enhancing its quality by combining an addictive melody with a lovely performance. Furthermore, through this song, they presented an English track for the first time, leading to an enthusiastic response from global fans. The title track 'DANG! (hocus pocus)' is an exclamation that comes when one constantly communicates with the inner self, and at some point, what was known begins to crack and the world of 'I' expands; it completes a contemplation on the difference arising from the gap between how I perceive myself and how I appear in the eyes of others, using Billlie's characteristic dynamic beats and direction. Billlie further strengthened the connection with global fans by adding English tracks for each song in their first single album, and used this work to condense and unravel the framework of the various stories they have presented so far. “F or T? P or J?”
The cognitive dissonance that always happens inside me... I think that the facts I currently believe to be true and am speaking about could be far from the truth according to some standards. Because the truth I think of is nothing more than the truth accepted through my own perspective...
1. DANG! (hocus pocus)
Composed by Daniel Caesar, Ludwig Lindell, Ellen Berg, Moa "Cazzi Opeia" Carlebecker
Lyrics by Jeon Se-hee(153/Joombas), peacedelicsu
Arranged by Caesar & Loui
There is a gap, however small, between the me I think of and the me reflected to others. Whenever I have those thoughts, I sometimes feel like a stranger when I look at myself in the mirror.
The smiling look in my eyes that my friends see, and the picture-like expression in my heart that only I know. Which one is my actual heart and appearance? There are times when my B-side and my A-side in reality are very different. In a way, my B-side is the real me…
A fusion electro-pop song that combines Polka rhythms with hip-hop and synth-pop.
02. BYOB (bring your own best friend)
Composed by Kristin Carpenter, Simon Jonasson, Gustav Landell
Lyrics by Le’mon
Arranged by Gustav Landell
Right now, I'm confused whether the feelings I have for that person are 'love' or just a simple 'crush.' My friends are telling me to call my boyfriend and have a party, but for now, rather than other people, I just want to invite my closest friends and have a fun time. My friends tell me to invite that person, but that person isn't my boyfriend, and I just want today to be a BYOB party. Bring your own best friend party…
A track that completes the vibe of French Disco Pop within the dream pop genre using an acoustic instrument arrangement.
